Our expert team understands the recurring issues affecting many Audi models and knows how to build a strong legal case that gets results.

Specialist Legal Support for Audi Faults

Audi’s reputation for German precision engineering and luxury performance is well established, but when things go wrong, owners often find themselves dealing with complex and expensive issues. Audi rejection claims are rarely straightforward and require a blend of legal and technical expertise to achieve the best outcome.

Many Audi vehicles feature advanced technology and intricate electronic systems that can be difficult to diagnose and costly to repair. From the e-tron GT to the Q8 and A3 Sportback, faults can affect multiple systems at once, including powertrain components, infotainment units, and driver-assistance sensors. Even authorised Audi dealerships sometimes struggle to identify or resolve persistent issues, especially intermittent or software-related faults.

When the vehicle is financed, the situation becomes even more complex. Finance companies, as suppliers of the goods, share legal responsibility for the car’s quality. Our team understands how to navigate these relationships, ensuring both dealer and finance company are held accountable. We support clients who purchased through official Audi Centres or independent dealerships, whether by cash, PCP, hire purchase, or lease. Whether your Audi has suffered issues early in ownership or has been subject to repeated, unsuccessful repair attempts, our specialist team can help you take control of your situation.

Your Legal Rights and Grounds for Rejection

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 guarantees that any vehicle you buy must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. When you purchase an Audi, a brand positioned as a premium, precision-built vehicle, you’re entitled to expect high standards of reliability, safety, and performance.

If a serious fault appears within the first 30 days of purchase, you have an immediate right to reject the vehicle and obtain a full refund. If faults develop after 30 days but within six months, the law presumes they were present at the time of sale unless the dealer can prove otherwise. After six months, you still have rights to reject, but you must demonstrate the fault existed or was developing when you purchased the car.

Significant issues that affect drivability, safety, or value, particularly when repairs have failed or are excessively costly, provide strong grounds for rejection.

If the car was bought on finance, you have equivalent rights against the finance company, since they legally supplied the goods. In a successful rejection, the finance contract is unwound, meaning you return the car, and the finance provider refunds your deposit and all payments made. You’re further protected by the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, which prevent dealers from engaging in misleading or unfair practices.

What Our Customers Are Saying

Common Audi Faults

Our extensive experience with Audi rejection cases has revealed a number of recurring problems across models.

Engine and Emissions Problems:

Many Audi owners report excessive oil consumption, timing chain or tensioner issues, and turbocharger failures. Diesel engines in particular have been affected by DPF and EGR faults, often causing loss of power, frequent regeneration cycles, or warning lights.

Transmission and Gearbox Issues:

The S Tronic and Multitronic transmissions can be prone to juddering, delayed gear changes, and failure to engage properly. These faults can severely impact drivability and lead to costly repairs.

Electrical and Infotainment Faults:

Audi’s advanced MMI infotainment systems, virtual cockpit displays, and driver-assistance technologies are prone to glitches, freezing, and complete failures. Problems with parking sensors, reversing cameras, or adaptive cruise control can compromise safety and usability. Suspension noises, air suspension failures, premature brake wear, and interior rattles are also common across many Audi models. Water ingress, steering faults, and early paint deterioration have also been reported. When these faults persist despite repairs, they can provide strong justification for rejection under consumer law.

How the Process Works

Every Audi rejection claim begins with a comprehensive review of your individual case. We’ll assess your vehicle’s purchase details, history of faults, repair attempts, and supporting evidence to determine the strength of your claim. Once instructed, we issue a formal rejection letter outlining the legal basis of your claim and detailing how the faults breach consumer law.

If required, we can obtain an independent expert report from an automotive engineer familiar with Audi vehicles. This report can be invaluable in proving your case.

Most cases are resolved through negotiation, often directly with the dealer or finance company, but we are also experienced in escalating matters to the Financial Ombudsman Service or County Court when necessary. Evidence to support your claim includes your purchase or finance agreement, service records, repair invoices, MOT certificates, diagnostic scans, and any written communication with the dealership.

Simpler claims can settle within a few weeks, while more complex disputes may take several months. Successful claims typically result in a full refund of the purchase price or all finance payments (including deposits, interest, and fees). You may also recover the cost of diagnostics, repairs, and reasonable alternative transport. Dealers sometimes propose “deductions for use,” but where faults were present from the point of sale, we challenge excessive or unfair deductions to ensure clients receive the full compensation they deserve.
